Dear ladies, the most crucial part of eye makeup is eyeliner, as your facial feature could be largely enhanced if you can do nicely with your eyes. However, how to adapt different eyeliner styles according to the feature of your eye? Let’s discover together.
Understanding the features of your eyes
My dear ladies, you should first understand the features of your eyes, then you could choose the perfect eyeliner style.
According to the shapes of eyes, we could easily categorize them as: almond, round eyes, long eyes, etc.
You may also distinguish your features as monolid, double-fold, or hooded eyes.
Monolid, double-fold,hooded
Normally the distance between two eyes should be the length of one eye. If it is narrower, it is close-set eyes; if wider, it is wide-set eyes.
Too wide vs. too close
Choose your eyeliner style
- Almond
Eyes with almond shape present a dynamic and lively feeling, thus extravagant eye makeups don’t fit it.
As the eye tail of this shape goes up, your eyeliner does not need to enhance it too much, you should pay more attention to lower eyeline.
- Round
People with round eyes look innocent. In terms of eyeliner, you could draw the line start at 1/3 from eye corner; with the tail extends towards your temple’s direction. You will look more elegant with this elongated style.
Elongate style
- Monolid
Doing makeup on monolid eyes is not an easy job. Most of times, the eyelines will seem disappear once you opened your eyes.
In this case, you could use bold lines on both upper and lower eyelids to enhance your eye shape. And then shading your eyes with darker eye-shadow to match with the bold eyelines, thus it will be more natural.
- Double-fold
If you are with double-fold eyelids, you can easily apply any style, congrats!
However, we still advise you to take thin eyelines, as your eyes will look bigger. Bold eyelines will make you look like having swollen eyelids, better avoid.
Too bold lines will make swollen eyes
- Hooded
If you have hooded eyes, you should enhance your inner eyelines and eye tails. As the eye corners of hooded eyes are hidden in most cases, you don’t necessarily have to draw the line from eye corner. Or if you really want, you should use thin lines for eye corner. Then better have flatten short tails at the end.
- Close-set & Wide-set
Close-set: no eyelines at eye corner, as your eyes will look even closer. Your focus should be on the eye tails, you can have the upper eyelines and lower eyelines end together in a “V”shape.
She could extend the tails to make it look even better
Wide-set: the eye makeup should weaken the visual effects that your eyes are too wide apart. You could have your dark eyeline start from eye corner, and avoid extending too much on the tails.

- Upwards & downwards eyelines
If you have your eyeline tails up, it increases the sexiness of your make up. Besides, your eyes will appear bigger with this style. Suitable for ladies with wide face and big cheek bones.
If you have your eyeline tails down, it creates an innocent and soft feeling. Ladies with hooded eyes and monolid eyes can also try this style.
Of course, there are different possibilities, and the best way to know which style suits you the best is to try. What else do you want to learn about this topic? Tell us in the comments!
